Beautiful book,made a wonderful gift for gamer This book is beautiful and i bought it as a gift for my husband who teally likes the FF games. It made a wonderful addition to his collection. He was thrilled and spent quite a bit of time looking over it. So Glad i found a good book to gift and even happier that so far there are 3 in the series so I have more to gift out lol. The pictures were beautiful and gave good descriptions. Mine arrived packaged well without any damage at all.Amazing product! Horrible shipping! I was very excited for the second volume of this series! It's a beautifully done book and I am glad it is being published! However, as usual, shipping has been horrible and the book has come damaged. I will just purchase in store. Shipping has never had enough packin and literally half the packing had no air inside.High quality. A tad underwhelming content. Maybe, this book is one of those products that I would have enjoyed more when the games originally came out. With that said, this book is still high quality in both presentation and the illustrations. I'm hoping that they continue making these volumes after the next one, and I hope that Dark Horse starts including the spinoff games in the series such as FF Tactics. Anyway, I wish they would have had art over the battle systems, more developmental artwork, and not looked so much like a game guide, y'know? For the content that is here, it's nice. The printing and paper grade is top notch, and you can tell they didn't just slap this book together.I do have a gripe, though. This is the fifth or sixth Dark Horse art book I've ordered in the past three weeks, and it came dinged and bent like the others. It's not bad-bad, but I expected sharp corners. Amazon needs to pack their books as well as they pack the diecast cars they sell and slap "Fragile!" stickers on the shipping boxes. It has at least one spelling error per sentence. I'm stuck with it since there's no possibility of a refund, but learn from my mistake!It's a concise book that is a great reminder of things you may have been taught long ... Some tips I definitely feel like most people do not know, including answering questions with information that leads to a dead end. If you're socially awkward, you definitely want to read this, it breaks down what to do (AND not do, which I appreciated) very specifically. I'm outgoing and feel comfortable navigating a party of strangers, but this has explained how to skip some awkward conversations that I definitely have had and do not want to have again!Do you wear clothes to an office party, or just go natural? Several reviewers have commented that the author or the techniques offered in this book are "plastic" or somehow fake. I don't really agree with that criticism. These social techniques are simply methods for making a more favorable personal impression or more adroitly facilitating interpersonal discourse. Are they "natural?" I don't really understand why it is considered a criticism to offer to teach someone a behavior which is not natural to them. If these techniques are natural to you, then you are wasting your time reading this book. If they are not natural to you, then you could potentially benefit from reading this book. But I can think of few human behaviors which are more natural than the desire to make a favorable social impression. When you go for a job interview do you brush your teeth, or do you just go natural? When you go to an office party do you wear clothes, or do you just go natural? When going on a hot first date do you restrain your flatulence, or do you just act naturally? Get real people, we all tailor our dress and behavior to impress the people we feel a desire to impress.I personally utilize very few of the techniques contained in this book, but then again I have very little desire to climb most social or corporate ladders. I do occasionally have clients who ask me to help them improve their social skills, so I like to have some familiarity with recommended social behaviors. The skills and behaviors outlined in this book can improve your social presentation if you take the time to practice them until they feel natural. Like every thing else in life, practice does lessen our natural imperfections.

Fantastic exploration of Coffee in Japan!! I read this from start to finish in a day. I couldn't put it down. Not only was it a fascinating exploration of the history and role of coffee culture in Japan, it offered up some places we could visit. (Which we did!). I love this book! I was even able to talk about coffee to my Japanese coffee maniac friends about stuff even they didn't know!Coffee and Japan Thick with clear understanding of both Japan and Coffee. Very good but long read. Read this while traveling in Japan to a Coffee Show and visiting Coffee Roasters and Cafes. I was surprised how accurate and insightful this book was on both topics.Awesomeness! The author's love for his subject is obvious, and maybe that's one of the reasons this book is such a delight. It explores many and various aspects of Japanese history, language, culture and weltanschauung in general. I thoroughly enjoyed Miller's style, and was actually sorry to reach the end of the book so soon.

So-So My 4 year old son doesn't really care much about the story at this point. He just likes to be read to. I just didn't enjoy this story as much as others. It wasn't as much fun. I would have devoured this story in a heartbeat because it's just so GUSH WORTHY! But since I'm currently reading it in a book club, I'm forced to pace myself...I'm a giant Frozen fan and I absolutely adore Elsa and Anna! And this book is such a delight because it catches their personalities so well! Tons of funny, awkward and just too darn cute sisterly moments that had me laughing my head off and brought tears of joy to my eyes. It's a blast to read!The downside to this book is the chapters are sooo short and leave you wanting more! Also, WHY is there no physical copies available?!? Great book, but you have to work for it!!!!!! You can apply the techniques taught in this book to ANY aspect of your life. I’ve been programming in perl for years, but I was ready to move on to bigger and better things. Wanting to learn C++, I was in search of a ‘good’ programming book, whether it go to an intermediate level or just the basic fundamentals, that a person looking into learning C++ would want. What more could stick out than a programming book that not only teaches you the C++ language, but the basic tenants of game programming? Here’s the ‘deal’. As a person with a lot of prior programming experience, I can say this book is huge when it comes to teaching you the basic fundamentals, and I mean for you to take the word basic to its very most possible meaning. This book is a bit more on the ‘technical’ side, and should probably be for a person who is fairly new to programming, can’t stand scanning through long code excerpts, or wants to connect the dots; if they had thrown themselves into the realm of programming in the past without taking the time to acquaint themselves with the foundations.

The first eight chapters are almost beautiful. I really enjoyed going through those simple things that you haven’t seen since your first introductory programming class in college. When you get to chapters nine and ten, the book gets a little rough. It does a good job of explaining the topics of chapter nine, like dynamic memory allocation, memory leaks, etc, but it’s not as thorough, so I could see that a ‘true’ beginner could possibly get lost. The chapter ‘does’ explain everything, but you have to be more careful and pay much closer attention to the words you’re reading or you might be left asking ‘why’ in the heck some things are the way they are.

One thing this book lacks is a good, solid introduction to the C++ language.
